Ebsta Hosts the #AwesomeAdmin Meetup

The Salesforce user groups are great ways to network, learn new things, share problems and ideas, and just generally have fun. A few of us on the team here at Ebsta frequent the LAUG (London Admin User Group) meetup, and two of us are on the leader team for the Pardot group, so when we were contacted by the LAUG organisers and asked to host the March one at late notice, we didn’t hesitate.

This time, the ladies were in charge, with LAUG organisers Claire Jones and Amanda Beard-Neilson warming up the room and introducing each speaker. That wasn’t the only reason this was no ordinary Admin meetup though: the meetup included an AppJam, an opportunity for various Salesforce App providers to showcase their product with a demo – in under 3 minutes! CEO Guy Rubin did a great job of demoing Ebsta, followed by co-sponsor Skuid, newly launched Data Dwell, and giveaway sponsor Coveo. The audience had their say in the volume of cheers, and ultimately Coveo were deemed the winners – earning themselves respect and a coveted Salesforce Spring ’17 release rainbow hat. Watch the Demo Jam Following the Demo Jam, the regular Francis’ Five Minute Feature this month was on Data Imports by Sean Dukes, who managed to wrap it up in under ten minutes (which all regular Admins will know is an impressive feat). Claire Jones gave a fantastic talk and demo titled Process Builder Tricks: Filter Related Lists without Code, and Freya Crenshaw wrapped up with ‘Collaboration Tools to Make You a Rockstar Admin’, with great suggestions on how to use Chatter and other tools as a team. Finally Ebsta CTO James Knowles terrified the room with a horror story on how he once managed to wipe an entire live database… earning himself the second rainbow hat!

The fun didn’t end there though. We set up our very own #AwesomeAdmin cocktail bar, with bespoke Admin Old Fashioneds, Cosmopolitans, and Whisky Sours. The cocktail service was provided by none other than Sam Jones, who runs Cocktail Van – one of the leading wedding cocktail service providers in London. Ebsta’s foosball table came into play, with teams and Admins competing against each other for the crown. Ebsta’s office monorovers also made an appearance, with (thankfully!) no injuries occuring.

In all, we really enjoyed ourselves, and had a great time catching up with friends, making new acquaintances, and welcoming newbies Data Dwell to the group. We’d like to extend a thanks to the LAUG organisers for putting everything together, and to Skuid for co-sponsoring the refreshments (including the cocktail bar!). Thanks to everyone who came along, and we hope to see you again soon!
